SNORKEL AND DIVE

Apo Island snorkeling and diving is the most popular activity on the island because of its astonishing marine life. From beds of colorful soft corals in the shallows to huge gorgonian sea fans, Apo is the center of marine biodiversity. Protected green and hawksbill turtles can also be seen in dozens in the shallows. And so as huge schools of jacks, groupers and fusiliers.

SWIM WITH THE TURTLES

Another main reason that travelers go to Apo Island is swimming with the turtles! The place is frequented by two species of turtles: green turtles(found in the shallow areas) and hawksbill turtles (found in the deeper parts of its waters).

Apo Island turtles can be found year round. But the best time for Apo Island diving is from October to early June.

3.NAJANDIG IN ZAMBOANGUITA

Najandig is a barangay in the Municipality of Zamboanguita with is about a 45 minute drive south from Dumaguete. The road to Najandig is about 15km long and is part concrete, dirt and rock which can be difficult to pass in places after heavy rain. We have used both a habal- habal and 4 wheel drive vehicle to drive to the village.

The main hike from the village is about 3.5km long and starts at an altitude of 530m and finishes at 990m high or a 460m climb. You will need to sign in at the ranger station about 0.5km from the village before proceeding. The hike is along a dirt track and wasn’t difficult to walk along even after a little rain.

4.Dolphin Watching in Manjuyod Sandbar, Bais City

Manjuyod Sandbar is definitely a must see-attraction here in Negros Oriental. Dolphin watching in Bais can be really fun especially during the right time of the day and the year. They are mostly playful and are curious to see what a boat is. The combo trip will start as early as six or seven in the morning for the registration, filling of gasoline and finally for departure.

Note: Swimming with the Dolphins or Feeding them are strictly prohibited.

5.Palypay Falls in Pamplona, Negros Oriental

Palaypay is actually a series of waterfalls consisting of at least three layers. Entrance is free. Its flowing waters nestled in the mountain ridges of Sibulan which the waters possessed a sulfuric content similar to Pulang Bato falls in Valencia town. Upon reaching the area, the stream was incredibly clear. The opposing huge rocks of the stream reflects a reddish color. The first tier has the highest drop sliding down to a deep basin of which I don’t know deep it was. The second level has also a deep natural pool which I was anxious to take a dip as it was really deep looking by of the surrounding basin. The third level has also a beautiful natural pool with an uncertain depth.

Overall, Palaypay falls is a great venue for outing and picnic. The cool waters offers a refreshing dip. Another unique waterfalls in the province to check.
